The Story
Danny has been volunteering at Sandbach United Football Club for a few years now, she started off as a player and is now coaching the U11 girls’ team. She has volunteered at primary school events organised by the School Games Organiser, officiating and supporting the running of U9/U11 girls and mixed competitions. She developed her skills on how to organise and run a competition and what will give the girls a good experience. Danny is also a member of the Youth Sport Trust Young Coach Academy, which is part of the Cheshire and Warrington School Games Maker Programme, partly funded by Active Cheshire. All of this has been brilliant in helping her to develop her skills and qualities and become a confident coach with good knowledge of the game.
The Solution
Danny has completed her beginners referee course as well as developing her coaching skills so she can complete her Level 2 next year (age restrictions).
The Result
She is continuing to support the local club and volunteers at all community events. She is currently working on her next community event for Autumn 2017.
Danny thoroughly enjoys being a part of the community at the club she is a fantastic role model to the younger players!
TAKING CONTROL…
Danny took it on herself to organise a football festival for the local community, the aim was to get as many U11 girls playing football & have a positive experience. She applied her knowledge she gained from supporting the local school competitions and ran an extremely successful event. Parents commenting on the success and how much their child enjoyed the afternoon.
Danny sourced sponsorship, provided t shirts, and medals for all and even managed to get Cheshire FA and a Stoke City Ladies player to be VIP’s.
