We are driven and challenged to achieve the collective ambitions of the region, through scrutiny and advocacy by an experienced board of Trustees, Patrons and Ambassadors who bring a diverse range of skills and expertise to the organisation.
Mike Watson

I lead a fantastic team of staff and trustees at Active Cheshire. Developing our strategy, people and finances are my key priorities, along with ensuring that our partners can create the conditions for more people to be more active, more often, leading longer, happier, healthier lives.
Michelle Phillips
Head of Finance and Compliance
I provide financial support and direction to the team here at Active Cheshire. Encouraging transparency, ownership and accountability in the production of financial information is a key priority. I continuously seek ways to develop and improve our financial processes to contribute to the delivery of our objectives more effectively.
Hayley Preece
Head of Data & Insight
I am responsible for making physical activity data and insight available to both the Active Cheshire Team, our partners and the wider Physical Activity System. Additionally, I lead our collaboration with NHS Cheshire & Merseyside and partners to plan for the successful implementation of the All Together Active Strategy.
Amber Lomax
Head of Strategy
I lead on our Sport England investment, creating alignment with our strategy. I work closely with the team to understand local need and explore opportunities that support our strategic objectives. I enjoy supporting and collaborating with local and national partners, with shared priorities and passion for what we do.
Roberta Pomponio
Senior Strategic Lead for Physical Activity and Mental Health
I support a collective approach to transforming lives through sport and physical activity, making active lives the social norm for everyone. With experience in further education and the NHS, my work focusses on influencing encouraging the health system to prioritise physical activity as an effective strategy for good mental health.
Nont Iamkamphaeng
Strategic Lead Children and Young People
My priority is to support children and young people to be physically active, creating the environment and culture that enables and encourages active and healthy living. I lead on the Healthy Weight and Obesity work across Cheshire and Merseyside as part of the Beyond Children and Young People Transformation programme.
Jack Davies
Strategic Lead for Active Environments
My primary focus is on identifying opportunities for environments within Cheshire and Warrington to integrate conditions that promote physical activity for all. In my role, I actively pursue this goal by leveraging and enhancing dedicated sports and leisure facilities, community spaces, and the broader built and natural environment.
James Self
Strategic Lead for Partnerships and Workforce
My role is to identify, develop and maintain strategic relationships and partnerships along with helping to understand and support the needs of the workforce in creating and providing more opportunities for All in accessing Physical Activity and Sport. I am also the Lead Safeguarding Officer delivering our Safeguarding strategy.
Mike Jones
Strategic Lead for Physical Activity and Health
I am responsible for how we can embed physical activity into our daily lives linked to health inequalities. With high levels of ill health, an ageing population and record waiting times we work with system partners to find innovative ways to relieve the pressure on the NHS, Local Councils and improve the quality of our residents lives.
Lystra Landon
Sports Welfare Officer (SWO)
My primary focus is to work with Club Welfare Officers (CWO) to create a safer culture within their organisation, providing additional, local support to CWOs, develop and create networks so that volunteers feel better connected and informed. Signposting clubs and community providers to the right advice and guidance and raise awareness of best welfare and safeguarding practice improving experiences for children, young people, and adults.
